The City of Harker Heights has enlisted The Retail Coach to assist in improving commercial growth to the City. The Retail Coach has completed several market studies to help maximize the City’s appeal to retail and commercial groups with interest in the region. MARCH 2022 DEVELOPMENT ACTIVITY REPORT

 

COMMERCIAL DEVELOPMENT

The City issued one (1) commercial construction permit within the month of March.
• 201 E. Central Texas Expressway, Suite 680 – Remodel
o Valued at $650,000

To date (March 31, 2022) the City has issued a total of two (2) commercial permits totaling $782,000.00 in project valuation for calendar year 2022.

RESIDENTIAL DEVELOPMENT

The City has issued a total of twenty-seven (27) permits for single-family residential construction within the month of March.

• 26 Single Family Permit in Cedarbrook Ridge
• 1 Single Family Permit in Pecan Meadow

 

The City has issued a total of one (1) permit for two-family (duplex) residential construction within the month of March.

• 1 Duplexes within the North Side – Robin Ln.

To date (March 31, 2022) the City has issued a total of thirty-six (36) residential permits in calendar year 2022; thirty-one (31) single-family permits, five (5) two-family permits, and zero (0) multi-family permits.

As of March 31, 2022, the estimated population for the City of Harker Heights is 34,451 residents. According to the US Census, the population as of April 1, 2020 was 33,097 residents. Since that time, we have added 456 new water accounts with an average household size of 2.97.
