The City of Harker Heights has enlisted The Retail Coach to assist in improving commercial growth to the City. The Retail Coach has completed several market studies to help maximize the City’s appeal to retail and commercial groups with interest in the region. SEPTMEBER 2021 DEVELOPMENT ACTIVITY REPORT 

 

COMMERCIAL DEVELOPMENT

The City issued two (2) new commercial construction permits within the month of September.

1. 825 W. Central Texas Expressway – Interior Remodel –
• 51,520 square feet valued at $120,000.00.
2. 3055 Stillhouse Lake Road Suite #205 – Tenant Finish Out – Kumon Center
• 1,990 square feet valued at $20,000.00.
 

To date (September 30, 2021) the City has issued a total of eleven (11) commercial permits totaling $10,723,006.00 in project valuation for 2021.

 

RESIDENTIAL DEVELOPMENT

The City has issued a total of five (5) permits for single-family residential construction within the month of September.

• 1 Single Family Permit in Woodridge Estates
• 1 Single Family Permit in The Ridge
• 1 Single Family Permit in Cedarbrook Ridge
• 1 Single Family Permit in Pecan Meadow
• 1 Single Family Permit in Tanglewood North Unit Twelve
 

The City has issued a total of three (3) permits for two-family (duplex) residential construction within the month of September.

 To date (September 30, 2021) the City has issued a total of one hundred and fifty-nine (159) residential permits in 2021; ninety-seven (97) single-family permits, sixty-two (62) two-family permits, and zero (0) multi-family permits.

 As of September 30, 2021, the estimated population for the City of Harker Heights is 31,734 residents. This calculation is based off the total of active residential water accounts (10,685) multiplied by average persons per occupied unit (2.97). According to the US Census, the population in 2010 was 26,700 residents.
