
Harker Heights Senior Recreation Program is designed for ages 50 & up. The program offers activities and events that will provide services that empower the seniors to focus on what matters most: their goals, hopes and dreams. The program promotes the participation of residents and non-residents through quality programs in socialization, nutrition, health, and recreation. All participants must register before attending programs. The monthly trips and a few classes do have a small fee.
All activities are held at the Recreation Center (unless otherwise noted).

CLASSES
GRANNY BASKETBALL
Mondays & Fridays, 12:00 pm – 1:45 pm
Recreation Center, 307 Miller's Crossing
This league uses the ladies basketball rules of the 1920’s. No experience needed. Show up for a game and see if you are ready to join the team. Senior Recreation Program member registration required; class pre-registration is not required.
PINOCHLE
Mondays & Wednesdays, 12:00 pm – 3:00 pm

Come join us for a relaxing day of playing cards. All levels of pinochle players welcome. Senior Recreation Program member registration required; class pre-registration is not required.
STRETCHERCISE
Tuesdays & Thursdays, 9:30 am – 10:30 am

Designed to exercise muscles & joints. Exercises include seated activities, some balance work, higher level of activities, and walking a couple of miles each class. Wear good athletic shoes and appropriate workout clothing. Be prepared to have fun getting stretched. Senior Recreation Program member registration required; class pre-registration is not required.
BEGINNER LINE DANCING
Tuesdays, 10:00 am – 11:00 am
ADVANCE BEGINNER LINE DANCING
Tuesdays, 11:00 am – 12:00 pm

Join in the fun of line dancing. You will be introduced to the basic steps that are used in line dance and you will experience performing them to music in easy line dances. It is excellent exercise and a great social activity. Smooth soled shoes or dance shoes are best for line dance. Foot tubes may be used over other shoes. Senior Recreation Program member registration required; class pre-registration is not required.
WATERCOLOR WITH JOE FRIDDLE
Wednesdays, 10:00 am – 12:00 pm

Space is limited. Cost: $5.00 per class that you attend.
Watercolor class is for beginners & up. We practice the basics of art, but most of all try to have fun and no one is a bad artist. Senior Recreation Program member registration required; class registration is required.
SCRABBLE
Wednesdays & Fridays, 10:00 am – 2:00 pm

Expand your vocabulary in this intellectual word game is great for a group of 2 or 4. Senior Recreation Program member registration required; class pre-registration is not required.
BUNCO

A good time with a great bunch that will welcome you. You do not need to know how to play, we will teach you. Senior Recreation Program member registration required; class pre-registration is not required.
SENIOR VOLLEYBALL

Join in some recreational volleyball fun. The first 30 minutes will be a warm up and than followed up with game play. Senior Recreation Program member registration required; class pre-registration is not required.

LADIES NIGHT OUT

Local Restaurant
Attendees responsible for the cost of their own meal.
Ladies Night Out is designed for the lady who needs to get away, try new local restaurants, and meet new friends. Each attendee is responsible for purchasing their own supper. Make sure to sign up in the Green Book at the Recreation Center, so we can call ahead and make reservations. The group will meet at the restaurant at 5 pm. Don’t forget to invite your lady friends.
PICKLEBALL (Consider as an open gym activity)

Pickleball is offered through open gym activity, which means it is open to the public of all ages and open gym pricing is applied. Pickleball is a fun tennis-style paddle game that is enjoyable for all ages. Watch a while or jump right in and play. Beginner to experienced players are welcome to join right in. Bring non-marking tennis shoes and comfortable clothes.
