Criminal Investigations Division

The Criminal Investigations Division is headed by a Division Commander, who is assisted by a General Crimes Lieutenant, and consists of 11 division members - both commissioned officers and non-commissioned support personnel.

The Division is responsible for conducting criminal investigations into crimes reported to the Patrol Division ranging from misdemeanor to felony offenses. This assignment also includes the processing of crimes scenes, the collection and preservation of evidence, the application of investigative techniques such as interviews and photo line-ups, and other investigative approaches.

Two Juvenile Detectives are assigned to this Division to investigate crimes against children and offenses committed by juvenile suspects. These types of offenses require specialized training and an exceptional cooperation with both school administrators and juvenile prosecutors.

Investigators are normally available during regular business hours to answer questions or aid those who have been a victim of a crime. An Investigator is on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to respond to emergency investigative needs.
